3rd Grade Reading 2020

While no schools in the state of Minnesota administered the MCAs in the Spring of 2020due to COVID and that means we are unable to report on our goal, we can share some of the strategies we have been implementing:
  • Continued literacy professional development initiative focusing on structuring lessons to gradually release responsibility of rigorous literacy tasks to the students.
  • Refinement of early literacy scope and sequence.
  • Systemic implementation of word work program (Words Their Way) from grades k-4.
  • Continued process to unpack k-12 reading standards to ensure instruction is appropriately targeting the rigor expected.
  • Emphasis on rituals and routines to increase reading stamina and build skills for student self-selection of "good fit" books.
