The mission of the Hastings Area Learning Program is to provide a caring, alternative educational environment designed to meet the academic and personal growth needs of its students.

What is the ALP?
The Hastings Area Learning Program is an alternative opportunity for students grades 9-12 and up to age 20 to be successful in earning their high school diploma. It is a non-traditional, on-campus setting that offers classes in the daytime. Students may attend regularly scheduled “seat time” classes, independent study classes or a combination of both. Students must be at least 16 years old to be enrolled in the Independent Studies program.

What are the ALP Program Components?

• Day, afternoon and zero hour (before school) programming

• Seat time for academic requirements

• Independent Study for academic requirements and elective credits

• Computer Assisted Instruction

• Course Offerings:

  • All academic requirements/Grad Standards/Profiles in Learning

  • Academic classes through non-traditional/independent studies (ex. Health, Physical Education)

  • Electives offered at Hastings School incorporated within ALP schedule

  • Voluntary Service Opportunities within the community

  • Counseling opportunities through ALP staff and involvement of community services and organizations

  • Post Secondary Option Exploration and Assistance

ALP Expectations and Attendance - Daily attendance, by class, will be tracked as normal so please notify the ALP at 651-480-7690 if your student is going to be absent for any reason.
