Women's History Month

Did you know that Women's History Month began with a teacher in California who noticed the lack of representation of women in her classroom history texts.  She helped to create Women's History week in 1978 and with support of some women in congress, between 1988 and 1994, helped to create an entire month dedicated to lifting up stories of women.   Each year the president creates a proclamation noting this month's intention.  See the 2021 proclamation here.
