Renewing License

The following information is for licensed teachers employed by Hastings Public Schools and district residents who hold a Minnesota teaching license and are not employed by another school district. If you belong to either of these groups, you may choose to utilize the District 200 Relicensure Committee as the body approving activities for credit toward renewal of your teaching license and/or obtaining the signature needed on the state relicensure form verifying that you have met the requirements for relicensure of a Minnesota teaching license. Out of district requests for relicensure may be sent to the chairperson for review and approval at scheduled committee meetings.

Our Relicensure Committee supports you in the re-licensure process, however, it is your responsibility to make sure your transcript is accurate.

Note: All employees of District 200 have a PD Express account, therefore, this committee will not accept paper copies of clock hours for District 200 teachers.

STEPS TO RENEW YOUR LICENSE:

1. Use the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board license lookup to determine when your license is up for renewal.

2. If your license expires at the end of this school year, check to verify you have met all of the conditions to renew your license.  In most cases, that means completing 125 clock hours and all of the mandatory requirements from the state of Minnesota.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE EARNED 125 CEU’s

  1. Print your PD Express transcript and check it over
  2. Bring your PD Express transcript to your building relicensure committee member
  3. Your transcript will be reviewed & approved by the committee at one of their scheduled meetings
  4. The committee will upload your approved 125 CEU hours to the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB)
  5. Apply and pay for the license renewal through PELSB (Renewing your license can only start after January 1 of the year your license expires.)
  6. PELSB will send an email to confirm when your license renewal is complete
  7. Share your new license so PD Express and HR records can be updated. Go to the PELSB license lookup website, enter your information and click on license (see image below). Download the license to your computer and email that license to Tammy Ludwig and Tonia Wood.

If you have any questions regarding your Minnesota teaching license, contact the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (651) 539-4200, or visit their website at the following address: https://mn.gov/pelsb
