A&I Goal 1 College Course Enrollment

A&I goal 1: increase the number of students of color and American Indian students who enroll in AP and CIS courses from 18 in 2018-2019 to at least 24 in 2021-2022.

  • Strategy 1: Expand AVID sections from 1 sophomore elective in 2018-2019 to 1 each in grades 9, 10, 11  in 2019-2020, grade 12 in 20-21 and into the middle school in 2021-2022 and ensure that each class has access to the required number of tutors and appropriate access to digital devices.
  • Strategy 2: Increase the number of staff who participate in formal AVID professional development (including Summer Institute, Pathway and district-hosted training) with a percentage of those being trained in Culturally Relevant Teaching strategies.
  • Strategy 3: Increase the number of students who have consistent access to technology within and outside the school thereby allowing them to be more successful in school work.
  • Strategy 4: Ensure that every student participates in at least one college entrance type exam during the Junior year.

How did we do?

We saw a significant increase in diverse enrollments! We grew from 18 students of color choosing college level courses in 2018-2019 to 35 students of color enrolling in 165 Semester courses in the 2019-2020 school year.
