The Hand in Hand Series Part 1 Spring 2012

The Hand in Hand Series is an opportunity for caregivers who have received or suspect a fetal alcohol diagnosis

to come together and learn about FASD in a supportive and informal setting.

Topics by Week

April 10—FASD:The Basics

Understand the unique strengths and challenges of a child with this disability, with em-phasis on how the brain is impacted. Also: Intro-duction to MOFAS and the

Hand in Hand Manual.

April 17—FASD at Home

What is sensory integration dysfunction? These disorders are related to many behavioral issues. What can you do to support your child’s sensory challenges?

April 24—FASD at School

Learn how to create a supportive educational envi-ronment, including special education access and rights.

May 1—Building Strong Families Suggestions on community resources , county ser-vices , and how to develop your support and re-source network. We will also address grief and loss issues for parents.

May 8—Parent Discussion Panel An adult with FASD and a panel of parents will share their experiences and answer questions about the successes and challenges of life with FASD.

Suggested donation of

$80/person or $120/couple

 

All materials are included.

Certificate for 15 training hours provided to all participants.
