SchoolView FAQ

-What is the difference between a Family SchoolView account and a Student SchoolView Account?

A student account if different from a parent/guardian account in the fact that the data that a student sees is limited to his/her own information (no sibling information appears).  While using a school computer, we advocate that a student uses his/her student SchoolView account and not a family account to assure data privacy.

-Why do some classes have many assignments listed in the grade book and others do not?

No two HMS/HHS courses are alike.

The volume of assignments/tests and the speed at which they are corrected will vary from course to course and teacher to teacher.

-What should I do if an assignment is listed as missing?

Discuss the missing assignment with your child.

Once an assignment is turned in, it could be several days before a teacher corrects the work and records the mark in the grade book. Teachers are asked to update their GradeBooks every two weeks.

If a turned in assignment is listed as missing, and several days have passed since it was turned in, have your child ask the teacher about the status of the assignment.

If these steps have not resolved your concern, contact the teacher directly.

-What should I do if my child disputes an assignment/test score as listed in the grade book?

Discuss the concern with your child.

Have your child work with the teacher to clear up the mark in question.

If these steps have not resolved your concern, contact the teacher directly.

-Why would I not be able to view grades for one/some of my child’s classes?

When a teacher is working in their grade book, they have the ability to temporarily turn off SchoolView.

If you are unable to view grades for a particular class for more than a few days, contact the teacher directly.

Courses taken at a location other than Hastings High School (HALC, Dakota County Technical Center, Post Secondary Option…) will not display in SchoolView.

-What if I have children in multiple District 200 schools?

If you have children that go to more than one District 200 school (Hastings Middle School and Hastings High School) you will be asked to select a school when you first log on to SchoolView.  When you click on the school name, the name of your child will then appear. Click on his/her name to view the data.

-Why does HALC show as a school choice when none of my children attends the HALC?

If your child attended summer school at Hastings High School, the ALC will appear as an option when you log on. To view your child’s data, do not select HALC. Instead, select Hastings High School.

-What if I forget my user name?

Email the district at schoolview@hastings.k12.mn.us (please remember a self help service is available enter and confirm your email address to access our self help service).

-What if I forget my password?

Use the question prompts at the log-in screen to recall your password or click on I forgot my password and if you have supplied an email address, your answers will be sent to the email address you confirmed in SchoolView

-What if I am experiencing problems viewing grades?

In order for ALL of the TIES web applications to work correctly, it is important that web browsers be configured to check for a "new version" of web pages every time -- not just once a day. Browsers, by default, attempt to look for a local hard drive copy of a web page instead of going back to the server.  Make sure to set your browser to “update pages every time you visit”.

-What is the best way to contact a Hastings Middle School or High School teacher?

You may contact a teacher directly via email, or by contacting the individual school (Hastings Middle School at 651-480-7060 or Hastings High School at 651-480-7470). All teacher email addresses may be found on the Hastings Area Public School web site,
